Newsletter from December 17, 2014:Â
As winter sets in, we find ourselves getting set to the rhythms of the season. More than any other season, the cold gets us on a routine like none other because the beeves are all home, and the growing of grass is done. With plant dormancy and the short days comes a quieter time with less urgent things to get done. Check out our Facebook page for pictures of winter life on the ranch—we’d love to share some of these images of winter with you!
With each day, we check through the beeves to see if any of them are having a harder time in the cold. Older cows may need some more hay and water will need to be checked along with access to it (it can get icy). Beeves are fed hay each day now, to supplement their graze, and that means loading the hay on a wagon. We take on building projects that don’t require ground breaking, and we work on exterior decking and woodworking trim in our home.
